Narrator: Overview
Narrator is a new assistive technology that helps educators and parents make written materials more accessible to those with learning disabilities. The software combines audiobooks with e-text so that readers both see and hear the words of the material being presented.
Reading comprehension is increased by the multimedia presentation of materials, the human-read text (as opposed to computer-read), and a built-in dictionary that enables readers to immediately look up unfamiliar words. Narrator stories can include web links in the text, as well as animations and content-enhancing layouts. Plus, support for iPhone/iPod Touch playback, as well as desktop (Mac) means learning can take place any time and anywhere.
